March 2022 Meeting

Possum Town Quilters met for their regular monthly meeting on Saturday, March 19, 2022. The meeting was moved to the third Saturday due to frigid temps and snow the previous week.  The meeting opened with a welcome from guild president, Ina J.  There were 21 members and 1 visitor in attendance.  Minutes for the February meeting were approved as written on the blog on motion by Tonya S. with a second by CC.  The treasurer's report was given by Karen C. and approved on motion by Diane S. and seconded by Marilyn H.

Old Business

Handbooks - New handbooks were given to everyone in attendance.  If you didn't get one, we will have them again at the May meeting. (April meeting will be Artisan Day)

MQA Gathering Host - PTQ will be hosting the MQA Fall Gathering on October 14-15, 2022.  The committee has secured the Fellowship Hall at Fairview Baptist Church for the event.  More details will follow as the committee works.  Everyone please be prepared to help in some way as this will require full guild participation.  The Gathering planning committee includes: Lauren H., Shannon J., Cheri S., Rita W., Brenda E.  Please see any of these ladies to find out how you can help make this a great event!

Committee Reports

Challenge Quilt - see program below
Charity Quilts -  Habitat for Humanity has started a house and hope to have it ready by summer.  We have quilts finished that we can choose from to donate to the family.
Historical Committee - A request was made that each charter member of PTQ write about the history of the guild and how it started.  All other members are encouraged to write down a memory of PTQ to help build the history of the guild.  Please turn in your documented bits of history and memories to Patti M.  She will compile everything and have Michelle M. add it to our scrapbook.
Internet Committee - no report
Pilgrimage Committee - no report
Publicity Committee - no report

New Business

Rita W. was voted at the PTQ liaison for MQA.  She will provide guild information to MQA for their newsletter and website.

In preparation of our Christmas in July, Gwen S. gave us a preview of the pattern she has chosen for our Friendship Quilt (Moda Village) so we can be planning and gathering ideas. She also suggested that this would be a great leader/ender project to go along with our UFO/PHD projects.

Program

Pat H. and Carol J. presented this year's Challenge Quilt for PTQ.  It was a consensus of the guild to have our challenge be a Quilt of Valor for us to donate when completed.  Pat and Carol chose the pattern, picked out and kitted up the fabric for everyone.  A motion was made by Karen C. for PTQ to pay for all the kits instead of each member purchasing one.  The motion was seconded by Marilyn H. and passed by the members present.  Terri H. generously volunteered to donate the backing to be used for the quilt.  If you signed up to make a block, please have those completed and ready to turn in at our May meeting.  Since our April meeting will be the same as Artisan Day, we will hold a special sew day on Saturday, April 23, for those who would like to work on their block with everyone here at the RAC.
