Baby Quilts/Blankets
Baptist Memorial Hospital's Mother-Baby Unit
Two types of quilts/blankets have been requested:
- For the loss of a premature baby:
- These tiny blankets can be square or rectangular in the neighborhood of 12" x 12". They will be put into a keepsake box about the size of a lunch box and given to the grieving parents. Please keep the size of any piecework or applique' small; in scale with the overall finished size of the blanket. These blankets do not have to have batting in them. We want to avoid something that looks like a hot pad.
- For the newborn baby who needs a cover:
- These little blankets can be square or rectangular, about 36" x 36". They are for parents who cannot or do not have a blanket. The babies will be wrapped in them to go home. These blankets or quilts can be made in summer weight - no batting or winter weight - with batting. We may use the "self-binding blanket" method with piecework or with one fabric; with batting or without.
