Show and Tell

Lawana showed her reversible circle quilt.

Sharon Lofton showed several quilts. The first was a bargello.
Next she showed a trip around the world.
Then she showed an adaption of a pattern she saw in a quilt magazine.
Finally she showed a fussy cut wild animal quilt.
The exchange club quilt was shown too.

The extra blocks were put in a strip on the back of the quilt.
Then Annette showed some Karen Combs graduated fabric she bought at Heritage quilt shop in Tupelo. It is also available at Karencombs.com. Everyone needs to visit the website and look at the classes that are available. We will vote on what we would like to take at our next meeting.
She then showed her quilt as you go string quilt. She made it with the left overs from the sister’s quilts.
Watana showed her Fighting Day and Night quilt that she made for the Lamar County Relay for Life Rally. Contact her if you would like tickets. They are $1 a chance.
Mary Ann presented Sharon with a hand painted and quilted wall quilt of our emblem. Good Job Mary Ann and THANK YOU Sharon for all your hard work.
Business
Minutes were read. Accepted.
Treasury report 390.00 dues paid $190.00 expenses giving a balance of $4,113.74. $1880 is designated for education.
If you dues are not paid they need to be paid at this time.
We have 28 paid members at the time. Report was unanimously accepted.
Sandi had the program. She showed a big bag she had made. She said she would have the pattern next time. You can line it and add pockets in the lining.
She also demo’d a ruler she used to work on the mystery quilt.
Karen Combs workshop will be October 15, we will not open to other guilds. We have decided to try to book Bonnie Hunter in 2013.
MUW wants us to teach beginning quilting MUW on Monday-Thursday and Saturday morning Sept. 19 – Oct 31. Need answer by Feb 28. Contact 662-327-0043 Cathy Howell. Annette made the motion that we do not take it as a guild and make it for individual work only.
Aliceville Middle School was asking for us to teach grades 7-8…but they dropped that from the program.
MUW theatre group is coming after lunch to observe us. They would like to have some quilts to display Feb 24-27. They are putting on a show about quilters.
Old Business: T-shirts, when Joanne gets back we will check in with her.
Quilt in a day has a Triangle square up ruler. Mississippi is the promotional code. sp;
Committee reports:
Nominating Committee:
Challenge Quilt Committee: Discussion on the floor of the suggestions Julia made in her email. She suggested nominating a new committee and continuing on as we have or we could make a quilt to donate to the arts center or we could take another suggestion from the floor. Contest could have categories.
Committee was formed Annette Pennington, Jennifer Haggard, Carol James, Linda Baines and Sharon Loften volunteered.
Pilgrimage: Brenda Crownover brought forms with schedules. Please fill out and let us know when you can come quilt.
Internet: Do we want to have a wiki?
Raffle quilt: We are almost done with the blocks and we will try to finish the blocks this afternoon.
