Possum Town Quilters met for their regular monthly meeting on Saturday, March 9, 2024. The meeting opened with a welcome from guild president, Karen Cauley. There were 27 members in attendance and 1 visitor. Minutes for the Feb 24 meeting were approved as written on the blog with a motion by Marilyn H. and a second by Tonya S. The treasury report was given by Treasurer, Judy S. The treasurers report was approved with a motion by Marilyn H.. and seconded by Jennifer R.

Committee Chair Reports
Charity Quilt Committee - Maple Street loaded quilt on Jan 3rd and are progressing.
Columbus-Lowndes Public Library (CLPL) Quilting Day Program will be held on Mar 12th at 12:00 pm. Members were encouraged to bring quilts or quilting related items to display in the library.
Pigeon Forge Quilt Fest "Celebrations" Quilt Contest 2024 - Finished projects are to be turned in at the PTQ meeting on Sat., Apr 13.
Raffle Quilt Committee - "Words from the South" - Tonya S. and Patti M. - Work continues on layout and design for the quilt. If you have not turned in your block, please do so at the next meeting.
Possum Town Blog - Judy S. reported that cleanup has begun and member lists and tabs have been updated.
MQA Spring Gathering - Judy S. reported the MQA Spring Gathering was held in Wesson, MS, Feb 9-10 at Thames Center at Copiah Lincoln Community Center. There were 3 vendors on site and the programs and speakers were all informative and entertaining.
New Business
The MQA Summer Gathering - Patti M. announced the MQA Summer Gathering will be held at Eagle Ridge Conference Center and Resort in Raymond, MS on Jun 7-8. There will be classes offered and these are still in the works. This is a beautiful venue and we all enjoyed the Gathering there last summer. Please make plans to attend if you can. It is a great time of fellowship and learning.
Artisan Day - Judy S. announced Artisan Day will be held on Apr 6th, 10:00-3:00 at the Tennessee Williams Home in downtown Columbus. PTQ will set up a hand quilting demonstration for the public and anyone is welcome to participate.
Quilt of Valor - packets are available for anyone wanting to participate. The Ohio Star quilt pattern can be found by clicking on the following link: 2024 BOM Challenge.
April Program - Terry T. will present a program on Color Wash Quilts.
Program - Block of the Month - Brenda C. gave a demonstration on how to construct the second BOM. Blocks will finish at 9 1/2". There will be 2 blocks each month. Patterns for each block can be found on the Home page of the blog. Look for tabs across the top of the page.
Bindings - Karen C. and Judy S. gave a demo on how to make and sew on bindings. There are many different ways this can be done but Judy showed her method. You can look on YouTube and find many different ways of sewing on binding. Bottomline is to find the method that is easiest for you.
