Old Business

Challenge (Rent) Quilt Report - Gwen S. reported that the binding on the challenge quilt, Moda Blockheads, has been completed and it is ready to donate to Columbus Arts Council.  Many thanks to Barb D., Terri H., and CC Coggins for donating their time to quilt it.  It turned out beautifully.

Pillowcase Charity Update - The pillowcases made by the guild and recently donated to The Dream Center Golden Triangle "Bedz for Kids" charity were given away within 8 hours!  An anonymous donor provided a pillow for each pillowcase so they went complete and ready for a new child's bed.  Such a wonderful charity to be involved with. Thank you to all that participated.

New Business

Nominating Committee Report - The nominating committee presented the proposed slate of officers for 2024.  Nominees are as follows:

President - Karen Cauley
Vice President - Brenda Crownover
Secretary - Rita Williams (year 2)
Treasurer - Judy Stokes

The list of proposed officers for 2024 was presented for a vote.  The officers were approved unanimously.  We thank all members of the nominating committee, Julia G., Shannon J., and Terri H., for making personal contacts and soliciting interest in each position.  Thank you to each nominee for stepping forward to serve a term.  It takes everyone pitching in to make PTQ a viable organization.

Raffle Quilt Committee Report - Tonya S and Patti M. presented the idea for the next raffle challenge and it's going to be so much fun!  The theme will be "Words from the South".  The challenge will be to take a common southern saying and turning it into a quilt.  Can you imagine the fun?  Participants selected a saying and will design a block around the saying.  Blocks will measure 10 1/2" (10" finished").  Backgrounds should be neutral, either white, beige on tone, or tone on tone in whites or beige.  You can use any technique you choose to include applique', foundation paper piecing, traditional blocks, symbols, pictures.  Only stipuation...NO WORDS!  We want others to be able to guess the saying protrayed in the quilt. IMPORTANT:  The picture should fit into a 10" square.  Blocks will be due at the Feb 10th guild meeting.  Have fun everyone!  Thank you Patti and Tonya for brainstorming and coming up with such a creative and fun challenge.

Columbus-Lowndes Public Library (CLPL) Quilting Day Program - Brenda Durett, Librarian at CLPL, has contacted Gwen S. regarding the next quilt day program.  She said the date for the next quilt day has been set for March 12, 2024.  This next year, in addition to traditional bed quilts, she would like to showcase other items made using quilting techniques such as handbags, totes, rugs, potholders, tree skirts, jackets, etc.  Please begin thinking of items you could include in the Quilt Day program.  It's a great opportunity for Possum Town Quilters to show what we do and peak the interest of potential new quilters in the community.
