Old Business
Small Quilt Challenge - Ina J. announced that our guild won the Small Quilt Challenge recently held at A Mountain Quiltfest in Pigeon Forge. The theme was "Water In Your World". Congratulations to all of the participants. You represented our guild well and make us proud! Thank you, Brenda Crownover, for spearheading this event. There was a lot of work involved to pull it all together.
Guest Speaker/Lecturer
Dorinda Evans, a well known friend, quilter/teacher from the Jackson Quilt Guild treated us to a bed turning on Friday evening, May 12th at the Rosenzweig Arts Center. Then on Saturday, May 13th, she gave a lecture for guild members on Color Theory. Dorinda's quilts are very colorful and she has a great eye for design. She talked about how she used color to create illusions and effect in her designs. We thoroughly enjoyed both events.
MQA Summer Gathering
MQA Summer Gathering was held in Raymond, MS, Jun 2-3 at Eagle Ridge Conference Center. There was some lodging provided on-sight. There were 5 great classes to choose from which provided great learning opportunities taught by some of MQA's finest teachers. It was a wonderfully planned gathering time for all MQA members.
Raffle Quilt - The Moda Block Heads quilt is pieced and ready for quilting. Terri H. and CC Coggins will quilt it The binding will either be finished by Maple Street or at Marilyn H.'s house. The goal is to have it quilted for the Columbus Arts Council Auction in August.
