May 2022 Meeting

Possum Town Quilters met for their regular monthly meeting on Saturday, May 14, 2022. Due to communication issues with the RAC, our meeting was held at the Library.  The meeting opened with a welcome from guild vice-president, Gwen S.  There were 15 members and no visitors in attendance.  Minutes for the March meeting were approved (since there was no April meeting due to Artisan Day) as written on the blog on motion by Tonya S. with a second by Terry T.  The treasurer's report was given by Gwen S. and approved on motion by Patti M. and seconded by Judy S.

Old Business

MQA Fall Gathering Host - PTQ will be hosting the MQA Fall Gathering on October 14-15, 2022.  There were no updates to be shared at the meeting but Lauren H. will be getting in touch with committee members for a meeting soon!

Bereavement Quilts for Hospital - Gwen S. reminded everyone that the hospital gives memory boxes to parents who sadly, don't get to take their baby home with them, and PTQ has, in the past, donated quilts for this project. (12"-16" in size) If anyone is interested in making a bereavement quilt for the hospital or just getting more info about this cause, please see Gwen.

Committee Reports

Challenge Quilt - Blocks for this year's challenge quilt were due at the May meeting.  However, if you were not there or did not have yours completed, please bring them to the meeting in June.
Charity Quilts -  No update
Historical Committee - A request was made that each charter member of PTQ write about the history of the guild and how it started.  All other members are encouraged to write down a memory of PTQ to help build the history of the guild.  Please turn in your documented bits of history and memories to Patti M.  She will compile everything and have Michelle M. add it to our scrapbook.
Internet Committee - no report
Pilgrimage Committee - Judy S. made a motion for PTQ to donate $200 to the Tennessee Williams Home Restoration Fund.  Lauren H. seconded the motion.  Also, Lauren H. made a motion that going forward, Maple Street Quilters would set up the hand-quilting demonstration at Artisan Day instead of PTQ.  Patti M. seconded this motion; subject to approval by Nancy C. of Visit Columbus.
Publicity Committee - no report

New Business

It was mentioned that it would be nice to have a quilt ready to raffle at the Fall Gathering.  Pat H. volunteered to donate a "fall themed" quilt for this.  Rita W. volunteered to get in touch with Terri H. regarding the 6in "Blockheads" blocks from the 2019 challenge as a possibility as well.

Program

Patti M. gave a Selvage Project demonstration.  She displayed several projects made using fabric selvages.  She also provided a reference guide should anyone be interested in making a selvage project of their own.
