June 11, 2016 PTQ Meeting Minutes

May meeting minutes read and approved.
May treasurer’s report read and approved.
June 25 is our Sit and Sew.
PTQ July 9 meeting will be held in the Upstairs Meeting Room at the Columbus Lowndes Public Library.

Old Business:
MQA June Gathering:
  June 17 and 18 in Jackson 

Doors open at 3:30pm on Friday-- evening program T-Shirt quilts
Saturday events start at 9am

  Judy is in charge of classes
  Classes, Lectures, and Sit & Sew
  Vendors will be present

MQA Member registration now open for National Teacher
Mickey Depre Classes
Pieced Hexies Buffet and Half Scrap Quilts
  • Must be an MQA Member to attend
  • Mickey Depre is teacher
  • Classes are Summer Carnival and Pieced Hexies Buffet 
  • Cost is $30 and you MUST have the corresponding book (no sharing)
  • July 18 & 19 in Starkville
  • July 20 & 21 in Jackson
  • July 22 & 23 in Hattiesburg
Registration closes June 30.  Book required for both of the classes.

*Guild voted to wear PTQ shirts we already own.  New members can bring a shirt to be imprinted.
*Guild voted to reverse the previous vote to purchase penny style aprons.

Reminder Old Man River Quilt Fest in Vicksburg August 16-20.

New Business
Beverly N of the Columbus Arts Council told about a peace project (Jane Goodall Institute) the CAC is planning in September.  Anyone wanting to help sew together large pieces of white fabric for this event will receive more information as event draws nearer.
