Possum Town Quilter Meeting Minutes
Minutes for
the March 12, 2016 meeting were read and approved.
Treasurer’s
report was read and approved.
Possum Town
Quilters currently has 44 members.
Pilgrimage: quilt tying report.
Judy S. said 8 members helped those who stopped at the booth
tie knots in the prepared quilt.
Participants enjoyed the activity.
The quilt will be donated to the Red Cross. The award winning “Name That Tune” quilt was
on display at the visitor’s center during Pilgrimage week. Visitors to Columbus enjoyed guessing the
song titles represented in each quilt block.
Nancy Carpenter thanked the guild for participating in Pilgrimage
week. A monetary stipend has been
received by the guild.
Guild
Challenge Quilts:
Pigeon Forge will offer a guild quilt challenge. Theme will be ‘Black and White plus One’. We are hoping to participate in this
challenge and offer the quilts for display during 2017 Pilgrimage.
Old Man
River Quilt Festival:
Organizers are seeking quilts for the show.
Award

Many in our guild have quilts that have received ribbons
over the past few months.

Guild Challenge: “House” blocks
Terry T. reported the plan for the quilt is set. Work will begin today on sewing the quilt top
together.

Choice-Linda B. Prizes were awarded.

Gathering Friday, June 17 and Saturday, June 18. Classes taught by the BEST quilters in
MS. You must be a member of MQA to

with National Teacher, Jacquie Gering on Saturday, Sept. 24, 2016:
Log Cabin Modern Makeover will be the class she is
leading. Guild members described her
classes as “fun” and “fabulous”. With
testimonies like that, ALL 44 of us will want to plan to be in attendance! We have even been contacted by ladies in
Florida who saw Jacquie Gering is coming to Columbus, MS and wanted to know if
they could have a few class slots. Wow!
Habitat for
Humanity:
Director, Kathy Arinder, has been contacted. House dedication for two families will be in May. We need to put together a masculine quilt.
MQA Fall
Gathering:
Fat Quarter bags are completed. We will be working on row marker pins and stiletto’s
today and at the April 23 sit-n-sew. The coasters and the cleaning tool are the
next projects to be created. Carol has
volunteered to have fabric for Coasters.
Some of the donated fat quarters can be used.
Donations for the silent auction can be ANYTHING. Door Prize donations need to be Brand New or
Extremely gently used—almost new. Ask
yourself: Is this something I would bid
on? Would I like to receive this as a
gift?
