March 14 Minutes

Meeting called to order by Ebba.

Pat made the motion and Carol seconded to have the minutes accepted as posted on the blog.

Shannon gave the Treasurers report. Judy motioned and Carolyn accepted them as read.

New member Judy Endsley joined us today. Welcome Judy.

Ebba mentioned that there were 7 openings for quilt retreat at Grits and Grace Inn. If interested in going please contact Ebba or Karen C. for more information.

We are taking suggestions for a place for Joncie to stay when she comes for the July 25th class. We will be asking Joncie about protocol for those who already own the tool and pattern for the class.

Karen updated us on the QOV blocks, there are still a few out, but when those come in we should have enough to make the quilt. On March 28th at 11 AM there will be a QOV program and quilt presentation, all are welcome to attend.

Karen reminded us that the Summer gathering for MQA will be in Pearl, MS in August. Fall Gathering is scheduled for Halloween weekend, but they need a place to host it. MQA is also considering going to two meetings per year with classes and being held in Jackson for both every year.

Judy updated us on Artisan Day. It will be on April 11th from 12 to 5. We will be allowed to set up starting at 8. We passed around a sign-up sheet for manning the raffle ticket table for the Southern Sayings quilt. If you can come to help out it would be greatly appreciated. The Raffle winner will be announced at 3:15. So far we have these slots signed up, but more than one can sign up for each time slot:

Next month's meeting will be on April 4th due to Artisan day being on the 11th.

Brenda brought the Rent Quilt Blocks and explained what we were to do to make the blocks. It is the Laundry Basket quilt blocks. They are due by June meeting and should be 10.5" unfinished.

February 14 Meeting Minutes

Meeting called to order.

Minutes were accepted as read on blog with motion by Ina and second by Carol.

Treasurer report was shared by Shannon. Raffle tickets for the Southern Sayings quilt will be available at the next meeting to sell or purchase. The money from this goes toward our rent at the RAC. Maple Street asked to combine their checking account with PTQ, but keep it separate in the books, just to help them keep from dropping below the minimum needed in their checking account as they are paying to rent the space at the RAC monthly. Marilyn motioned and Ina seconded.

We had a new visitor today, so welcome to the club Rebecca.

Ebba is looking for her 16 1/2" square ruler, if anyone has any information on its whereabouts please let her know.

Mountain Quilt Fest Challenge was presented to the group. The theme is a 250 year celebration of our country. Gabi shared some ideas. To go forward we would need at least 5 entries to be able to enter as a group. If interested speak up or we will pass this year.

Someone left contact information wanting someone to make a quilt for them...Ebba will investigate what they are looking for.

Ina presented the QOV instructions and packets of precut fabrics for the blocks. The kits have to be signed out and returned to ensure the quilt comes together. These will be due at the next meeting so reach out to Ina if you want to get one.

Calendars were passed out and will be added to the blog under the 2026 Calendar tab. Please note that the MQA gathering will not be in June but in August this year for the summer gathering.

Brenda presented the 2025 bucket list check in and quite a few knocked off some items from their lists so way to go guys!

We forgot to cover it , but there will be a paper-piecing class after the Meeting in March presented by Tonya. Tonya will be demonstrating and have copies of the following pattern for you to try your hand at paper-piecing.

Supplies for paper-piecing class include:

Various colored scraps - at least 5 inches square (can be a variety of fat quarters or cuts from fabric yardages) - I would suggest four/five different colors and a background color of your choice

Thread

Rotary Cutter

Sewing Machine and accessories

Extension cord

Seam Ripper

Scissors

January 10, 2026 Meeting

 Meeting was brought to order by Ebba Kellum.

We reviewed the status on the committees:

        Quilt of Valor Blocks - Ina and Karen C.  

                - Blocks are to be prepped and passed out at February Meeting.

        R AC Rent Quilt - Brenda C. 

                -Basket quilt blocks will be provided as kit for us to do.

        Artisan Day - Judy

                - No update

        Habitat for Humanity - Judy

                -We have a quilt ready and we will be updated for when it is needed.

        MQA Liason - Karen C.

                -Spring Gathering will be on February  6-7 in Ocean Springs, registration is opened.

        Beginning Quilt Committee - Judy, Shannon, Ina

                -No update - will bring update for the next meeting

If you have any door prizes you would like to donate to the guild, please bring them to the next meeting.

Dues of $15 are due for the 2026 year.

We had a visitor, Theresa, welcome.

Watana is going to do a mystery quilt for us this year. She will be emailing each new clue each month. If you didn't sign up on my notebook at the end of the meeting, please contact me or Watana to be added to the email list.

Updated Calendar should be ready and available by the next business meeting. I will also post it on Facebook and the Blog so stay tuned.

CC will be teaching a class on January 31st, from 9:30 to 2, on how to make bags. She gave a demo on what she plans to show us how to make.

        -For the class you can use leftover blocks or fabric of your choice. The amount varies according to the size of bag that you are wanting to make. If you want to make a bag for a specific item/s (like to carry your Bible, books, or quilt things in), you will have to measure those items to determine the amount of fabric needed. Probably at least 1 yard needed to make small bag.

Judy updated us on the T-shirts. There are extras in the cabinet that are free for new members that she will keep inventory of in case we get low to ensure we have some for new members. If any member who received one wants another, they can contact Judy and the cost of the extra shirts are $10.

Julia invited any, who have an interest in Fiber Art Quilts, to come visit their meeting to be held at her house on January 31st at 10 am.
