July 12, 2025 Meeting

Meeting minutes from June were accepted as posted with motion from Ina and second from Shannon.

Treasurers report was given by Judy.

Door Prizes were won by Shannon and Ina.

Ina showed the Relay for Life Quilt and did the drawing for the raffle. Dottie won. This quilt was pieced and quilted in honor of those who have lost someone to cancer.

August 9th Watana will do a demo on Chenille quilting and will hold a class on August 23rd.

Nancy Losure did a demo on the Quilt Hugs that she has made for Chemo patients. These are made from fabric and fleece. You quilt as you go in strips. They have pockets on the inside and velcro on the front to close them. Guild purchased 5 patterns. 2 yards of fleece can make 2 of these quilt hugs. The patterns are on aisle runner material that can be found in rolls at Michaels. So copies of the pattern can be made if you want to.

We celebrated Lawana's 90th birthday!

June 14, 2025 Meeting

 Meeting called to order.

Minutes accepted as posted on the blog with motion from Judy and second from Marilyn.

Judy presented the treasurer report, which was accepted as read with motion by Shannon and second by Watana.

Maple Street is still looking for a place to meet, and hope to have a place soon.

Southern Sayings quilt is complete except for the label.  The guild voted to give the quilt to the RAC for rent quilt this year. Judy motioned, Watana seconded, and all were in favor. Marilyn made the motion and Ina seconded to have Judy handle the label portion. Tonya will supply the names of the blocks.

Patti will contact, set up, and get more information from Joncie Smith regarding a class to be taught next year.

Door prize winners this meeting were: Brenda C., Julia, Watana, and Marilyn. We do need more door prize donations so if you have any you would like to donate to PTQ please bring them the next meeting.

Ina has agreed to lead the QOV presentation at the library next year. Be sure to be working on finding your patriotic themed quilts to lend to the library.

MQA requests Legacy Quilter nominations to be turned in before deadline in August. To be a Legacy Quilter you need to be 65 or older and have quilted for a while. Ina and Cece were suggested during the meeting. The Legacy Quilters will have their quilts displayed and talk about their journey as a quilter.

October MQA gathering will be in Winona, MS this year. Terry T. wants to have 10 quilt stations of small demos present. She has seven signed up. Watana volunteered to do a one seam block. That leaves two more needed, if you are interested please contact Terry.
